Headed to DL this weekend to meet up with some friends from college and fish, I have never Ice fished DL but have a lot of good summer spots there for Walleye.

Is it worth popping a few holes in the best summer spots? or just start over for ice fishing?

Also I have a decent drive to get there, and I can get everything I need in my car, (I have chains for it for on the ice if needed), or should I just load up the truck(no chains, but 4wd) and pay the gas bill? How are the accesses if I take the car as far as ice heaves and pressure ridges?

Thanks for any insight. -A

My experience is our summer hot spots hold fish year/round,iffin you have current contour mapping gps data from navionics or lake master your good to go,underwater section lines/juctions.rock piles etc, don't shy away from shoreline sunkin trees either, get right in there and pop holes.

Goodluck, hope you get warm temps to hole hope.

yea id bring the truck, lake surface is pretty much melted down with hard drifts, accesses are blowing in with fresh powder from recent snows.
