Fishing help on Sheyenne River

My son will be heading out for Basic Training in June and I would like to take him on a kayak/fishing/camping trip on the Sheyenne River before he leaves. Its a trip he's been wanting to do for awhile. I'm very unfamiliar with that river. Do any of you all have suggestions on good stretches of river for fishing from a kayak and primarily targeting smallmouth bass? Ideally near a campground but we are willing to travel a bit for the fishing.
