Will leave this Friday for about our 8th time. Began using pickups and not knowing where to even go. Hard on pickups. Tractor twice to pull out of forest and wrecker once with a $2500 bill. Got ATV and ended up pulling one out and one time only the handled bars were sticking out of the water. 100 sheds that first year and hope 250 this year while leaving 100 or so up there. That is the goal anyways.
Bought used side by side. Son and friend put racks on to carry stuff. Also snorkel on. Hope the water does not get that high as we will be in trouble.
Find a few 70 class horns and a handful of 80 and hopefully maybe one counting all horns in the 90. Got two. so far. Big ones on a shelf and rest in a pile. Got five years of one buck and more than one year of others.

Is it worth it. Priceless. db

Don't think with the snorkel kit you can go in deep water DB. Your belt and clutches will still get water in them as even with a snorkel they are not waterproof. It will still get in around the clutch cover if you are in water very long. Just be careful my friend!

Brokenback:
Yes there are to be three tubes siting in air as one for air intake is not all on. But two there are for air box for housing of clutch and belt. So kit had us put sealer around housing however once off never got the sealer on the housing. Hopefully not in water that much. This is all new for me. My atv did not have this air intake or outtake on that housing. Sleds were wide open. Should not be in water for any extended time maybe as much as a few minutes at most. However if you have experience this maybe need to take cover off and put sealer on. no/yes. Have time to take off again before trip. Help. db

Logging up there at one time and some logging now so mainly pine with some opening and some heavier brush. Get in area where pine that has been planted about 5-12 feet tall. Big trees only moss growing on ground. Decided the heck with sealer on cover for now, maybe big mistake, time will tell.
Nice pictures and expect no less (hopefully). Been good for a few horns like that but big problem with squirrels. Yes the wolves can give you a thrill. So i'm getting nervous now for the trip. But yes, get a permit from Denver to bring them back, expect some crab at border, need vet to check out before coming back and for me who has hunted deer since 1959 this is a bigger deal. Did stay in hotel at first but now a tent for the four of us. Does get a little cold but the beer is good with no one else around. db

DB there should be a gasket between the front and the back clutch cover that sits inside the back cover. This won't totally keep water and dust out but it helps.

guess i will think on this brokenback tonight. db

- - - Updated - - -

those were sheds that i did some repair and stain/paint, found a skull in states and put in hydroperoixde, base were a little small for horn but counting all horns it does get into high 170 to 180. Common up there as shown of the five point by 5577 for a hole in horn cause by bug or disease?

Just curious; do you just go wander on open public land or have "the ins" up there? Where ever it is, it looks like your own piece of heaven..
Think it resembles my solo coyote hunting extravaganzas; just go do what you want to do on your own without any competition, disagreements, expectations, worries, or stress.. (My older brother and I try to go on at least one of these hunts together a year where we don't have to worry about placing in a tournament, big dog/little dog, missed opportunities, etc.. and they're for sure the ones were always talking about and planning months in advance.)
Like you said in your OP, PRICELESS! #happyplace

Rut:
thousands of acres of continous Queen's forest land. Do not ask any one, open to all, no competition except between us, we all find our fair share, however son's dog finds more than his fair share, about 8 days, very seldom meet anyone but now and then another shed hunter, free no fees, park tent where ever but have a spot now, so one just goes wander, find spots where deer have spent winter by trails, drink beer, at peace, no worries, water but beach sand so no problems getting stuck (well sought of), wolves taught at night, bears with cubs, have been close but have not bother anyone, and did i say drink old mill and create some memories for the memory bank?
Yes, I see you have experience the same with your brother as I have with my son. db
