I always like seeing folks get nice bucks in velvet. Anyone out in NDA land put one on the ground yet?? Most of the bucks I've seen are hard horned already. Hope someone got lucky and got one with furry horns. Anyway, good luck out there and be safe.

Well, missed getting this one in velvet by 16 hours or so. My son and I got busted Saturday morning around 7:00 am and he was clean. Had a pic at 4:42 am and he was full velvet. Knew his pattern and ambushed him Saturday night.

Is that a drop tine coming down by his eye or the sun shining on him.

Isnt that a different buck? Brow tines and main beams appear different.

After some research I believe it is. A neighbor has mine on cam. Beams are almost identical down to widened tip. I knew the brow was different but hooked in same place. I ended up having mine on cam night before still in velvet though. So yes that buck in velvet is not the one. My bad. I thought maybe once shed that part of velvet was empty. In this pic tines look more different than other pics due to head angle. Everything else is almost dead on.

I have a decent 4x4 in velvet now yet, do these deer breed if they stay in velvet. Had a few bucks that shed theirs about the 9-10th so seems some held it later than I am used to. Gonna keep an eye on this one and if he holds in velvet may try and bow hunt him in oct. Was just curious if he wont breed than worth trying to get. Mostly holding off hunting the area this year to let the herd recover from EHD last year. this was him on the 12th

He'll probably still shed it, I've still got a few that are furry. I think in most cases if they don't shed velvet they have some sort of issue in the swimsuit area...
Crabs? Or saber-toothed crotch crickets?
