I picked up a 300 win mag for no good reason. But I'll shoot/hunt it here and there. What ammo are you guys using that have one of these. I'd like to have federal fusion 180g but can't find any. Price for this caliber isn't pretty.

If you want to have sticker shock on shells , look at the price of 264 Mag . I think most use 180 Gr with 300's . We have used 150 Grain also

Have always used 150 grain in my 300 Winchester mag. My son has to use 180 grain in his to get it close to grouping like mine. Mine hates 180 grain.

I have 3 boxes of 180 soft points and my 300 hates them but loves the 150 of the same make. LB

I have only shot 165 gr Hornady interlock in my 300 Win and Deer and Elk and Moose do not like them. I tried many different loads and 165 shot the best.

Pheasant;
Many years ago (like 40) a guy bought 24 boxes of 264 for $12 a box. Asked if i wanted 12 of them. I said i would never use up but bought. Still have 10 left. db

Did an inventory check on my store bullets. Found only 5 full boxes of 264 and a bunch of boxes with spend bullets. Apparently love that rifle more than I thought. db

I have a thousand Berger 215 hybrid targets so I guess I’m shooting those for a while

Your opening sentence was funny as hell. 😁 On the other hand there's nothing wrong with getting a new gun and there's nothing wrong with a .300 Win except it's not a 7mag.

I read somewhere years ago the 165 is consistently the most accurate out of standard twist .30's and are the best starting point for sighting in. IDK--15yrs ago Pard & I were sighting in his '03. We had three boxes of CoreLokts--150, 165 and 180's. The first two grouped in a baseball and the 180's grouped in a quarter.

I’d do 50$ bucks a box, I think they are around 80$ now but I got 50 into them. Other thing I seen is scheels had Norma 150s for like 35$ a box. Buy 3 boxes of them shoot them sell the Norma brass and recoup most of your cost or reload yourself.

Don't hit them in the wrong spot with those. I USED to shoot them.

168 TSX and nothing else out of my 300 win mag.

Are you talking about the ballistic silvertips? I've had nothing but excellent results with them compared to regular ballistictips.
Even let my mom shoot her moose with them out of my 300 after i saw my brother shoot his moose the year before with them out of his .270

Scrotcaster isn't that the truth with the .300 anyway, ive been on ammo dealers email notification lists for a long time and nothing! Did run across a bunch of 270s at scheels last summer, bought 7 boxes for my brother.
I'm a big fan of that bullet, my 300 loves them.

I am.

Oh they put stuff down. I haven't killed anything but deer sized game and smaller with them. Have you ever Texas heart shot a deer with one? I have, not on purpose I may add, I had to throw both hind quarters away.

Triple shocks ruin very minimal amounts of meat. Even with poor placement.

I dont know what kind of speed you can get out of a 300 WM but my 308 W shoots the 110 grain barnes TTSX at 3300fps at the muzzle. Its deer dynamite basically. I wouldnt use it on elk or moose probably.

I experimented with 130 TTSX out of my 300 win mag. BC isn't great and you can't kill them more deader than dead. Stuck with 168s

All of my 308s shoot 130s though. Haven't tried 110s, I should some time.
