Just looking for any advice. I'm thinking about boring out my 351M and then changing the crank to make it a 400. Anyone with experience here? I'm going to have the heads redone. I will reuse the 4 barrel that I put in a few years ago, along with the cam I already upgraded. Thinking about Hedahls in Aberdeen as they seem to have a good reputation. Any other specific components I should be looking at utilizing?

They do alot of work on race engines and they seem to hold together and run well. Other than knowing that not much help I am the one in the family that is the mechanic gene skipped.

Ya I hear their reputation is excellent. They go above and beyond; balance the engine. I'm looking for info on other things like ignition also. I have a Chevy ignition I was going to put in, then I hear others talk about changing degrees on the original, which is way above me. I do know a lot of locals really talk highly about putting the Chevy ignition and distributor in.

When using a 400 crank in a 351M you must USE 400 pistons, and 400 harmonic balancer, the rods are the same.
351M bored .030 over with 400 crank = 408 CI
Do more homework on engine build up, get a good machine shop that does good work and get them to understand what your are trying to do.
Have fun...Ford rules.:;:thumbsup

Thanks. I am aware of the pistons, and of the harmonic balancer unless you have someone do mods to the original. I've got a 650 Edelbrock, which I am assuming should be adequate?
