I Have a crappie to mount for someone and its tail is pretty ragged. If any of you catch a 14-15" crappie in the next month or two I'd be willing to buy the tail from you after you're done cleaning the fish for 20ish bucks or so. Just cut it off a half inch or so back and freeze it in a bag with some water in it.

Just PM me if any of you come across a decent size crappie in the next couple months.

You have a picture of the Crappie with the ragged tail? Does it look bad? I've heard that's the true trophy when they're old and ragtailed/wore down????? I've never seen one.

This one isn't naturally ragged, it got all dried out and busted to hell in the guy's freezer.

When I had a taxidermist do my crappie he said he skins them under water so the scales don't fall off.

I know a guy that caught a 46 inch pike and has had it at the bottom of his deep freeze since 2001. He thinks it will be fine when he finally brings it to a taxidermist...haha
It might, I guess I don't know, but he claims he does know and it will be the same as if he just caught it.

If it's froze in a block of water with out any skin exposed it should be good.

WTF, does he have a dry suit and SCUBA gear for this time of year?
