I have an 8 twist 7 Rem Mag. It will do anything (and more) that the 7PRC will do. I launch 180s just a hair over 3,000fps with a 26" barrel.

Yes, a long bullet encroaches on the powder space more, but if you're using H1000, or better yet, RL26, you don't even need all that space to hit max pressure and max speed.
Yes, the case has a belt. You can still headspace off the shoulder. Non-issue.

Don't get me wrong, I like the PRC lineup, but the 7 Mag is a winner for a reason.

^^^^That was cool. I've got a line on an '80's push feed M70. Thought about a PRC re bbl--IDK. I don't reload. I also don't shoot past 400. I've just answered my own question if the bbl shoots.

Another thing just occurred to me; how the hell is the belt in any way inferior for consistent headspace? It's never "bothered" me before. Seems an elegant solution if the brass has tight tolerances.

A “crush fit” off the shoulder is the only way IMO.

Unless you drool on a regular basis.

You mean like you don't set the shoulder back at all when resizing? That seems ok for a range toy, but if your chamber gets a bit dirty (flake of carbon from the suppressor, etc), you may not be able close the bolt without really hamming on it.

My grandson recently picked up a Seekens 7 PRC. I woukd like one myself, but my most accurate rifle is my 300 Win mag with a heavy 28+ inch barrel. However the ones that get the most attention are my 6.5 Creedmoors. The 24 inch lighter barrel started out as a 22-250, but I put a Criterion Creedmoor barrel on it set at .001 inch over minimum SAMI specks for head space. That works the brass less for longer life.

For accuracy I neck turn all my 6.5 brass. Neck tension on my Creedmoor brass is controlled with a .286 bushing in my RCBS Gold Medal bushing die.

Also for consistency I throw my powder charge .1 grain heavy (41.6 g with 140g bullet) then use a light tweezer to pick out one kernel of powder at a time until the scale drops to my desired weight of 41.5g.

The reason the 7 PRC interests me is because it's another cartridge I could play with like my Creedmoors. It's a challenge to develope a load that beats what you currently have and I think I'm at the end of improvement on my Creedmore loads. Check out the standard deviation on these 140g Berger VLDs.

Pushing that bullet to over 3000 fps with R26 is not as consistent. This is about the best I can do.

I have lots of different 7's kinda my kryptonite since way back when I was 10 years old till today and since have built or bought many different spin offs. I don't have 7 PRC and more than likely not but time will tell.

I enjoy my 7mm rem mag for the most part, even more now with the new stock and timney trigger and might start liking it even more after I get my suppressor. Just can't bring myself to go to a PRC and I personally don't have a need to run 170+ bullets for my hunting, the 145gr Barnes LRX load I worked up laid the smack down in Texas on my Aoudad Ram and a pretty good boar. Fir those that say mono's suck at killing I have still watched more animals drop than I have had to track with them and when I have it's a short track. Had some Federal with 168 Berger's running good too a few years ago

I have shot Hornady 139 gr Interlocks out of my 7MM Remington Mag with no issues at all. I have killed Deer out to 450 to 500 yds with them. And can honestly say I never lost one. And probably shot over 50 deer before I retired it. Why I retired it, I don't know.

Santa needs to deliver you a SuperTrickler.

Good lord man be glad you don't load LeverRevolution in any cartridges. That stuff has the consistency of powdered sugar. You'd have to buy one of those little cocaine spoon things they use on TV.

I love the M70, but, the magazine spacer in a M70 cock-blocks you pretty good w/any heavier projectiles and/or longer seating lengths. In a M70 it's 3.34" or single-feed.

I have the new RCBS Chargmaster, but it isn't within .1g like they advertise. It stops at what they say is 41.5 g of H4350, but most often it's 41.4. Anyway I can pick two to five kernels faster than the Chargmaster can complete an inaccurate load.

Thanks. Is that a hard mod?

In a pushfeed you either remove the spacer via heat or sawzall. Or, you find a “Magnum” 3.6” box and stuff it in the bottom.

Additionally you swap out the bolt stop for a shorter “Magum” version to allow the bolt to cycle back far enough for the increased length. The bolt stop is a <5min swap. If you can find the 3.6" H&H/Wby internal box you can include that in the <5min swap.
