If all the paper works has been done, there is nothing than they can do. Just trying to get their 15 minutes of fame I guess, like juan says...just a waste of time. If they think its a bad thing, then they should be doing things they way thier ancestors did things...travel by horse, make coats for deer hides, not getting brand new cars and reservation money...where they hell they think that came from???
Guess you can't fix stupid

Were the human remains just a hoax ? Not sure how ND handles burial sites but in Utah the state geologist and archeologist are dispatched and the project is shut down for investigation. One project was shut down over a year.

I find the whole black hills thing a joke. They had only occupied the black hills for 90 years before the 1868 treaty. Funny you never hear the arikara clame them even though they had them long before the sioux got their ass kicked by the tribes over by the great Lakes and were forced out onto the prairie. Damn sconies i tell ya! Hell the sioux first settled the hills ironically in 1776! So the sioux saying you stole our land is funny since they stole it first.......alls fair in love and war.

The land was won in a battle, big difference between winning and stealing.

When I play cards at an indian (native American) casino, and lose my bet, are they stealing my money, or did I lose my money? Cause it can't work one way for me and a different way for them.

SRST filed a lawsuit against the CORPS as soon as the permit was issued. I think it was in the paper just a week or so ago.

I'm not gonna say the pipe will never leak, but even if it does, isn't there shut down valves and safety precautions? Plus the tribe just put a new intake in at Mobridge. They have a new water treatment plant North of there about 20 miles. They are running water lines to the whole rez from there. They haven't made it to Yates yet, they're still piping the SD side. Eventually, all the communities will be hooked up. So even if it does leak in the future, you would think it would be contained and fixed before it hits Mobridge.

Oh, I never heard a thing about disturbing sacred sites when they were trenching that big pipe to the intake.

Every once and a while one of the SD Sioux tribes will try to convince the other bands (There's about 10) to accept the settlement. It's been discussed, but they'll never take money for their sacred land. I wish they would take it, my wife might get a nice check.

From what I got the Morton County Sheriff talked the construction crew foreman's into taking a half day off because the protestors were growing, and hoping couple days off would cool things down. The tribe then proceeded to think that the reason they were quitting was because they dug up buried remains. Then all hell broke loose after that occurred.

Yes if the pipe did have a catastrophic leak the pipe would be shutdown and valves on both sides of the river to be closed to limit the amount of a leak. The oil would then rise to the surface where booms would be placed to contain it. Oil won't reach very far downstream before it is collected. If the water intake is shutdown the oil company would be responsible for bringing in water to cut off communities until it is started back up. This is why they won't allow it to ever leak because of the high financial consequences.

As far as I k ow the water plant has filled the tank and that's it .The first pipe from there was just bid. That job was so full of suck and then to see it just sit there every time I drive by it makes me really wonder wtf.

I thought they got to McLaughlin but idk. I coach with a guy that works for the water division n that's where I get my little bit of info on it. I can't wait till they get to Yates. I think that intake pump scares the fish off that beautiful structure.

They might have I know there is a new water tower there but thought the pipe had not been laid to it yet. It is quite the plant will be good when it is used to its full ability for the money that was put into it. That holding tank is quite impressive to I can't remember how many gallons it is

No remains were found.

Towards the end of the video is where he talks about it.

Big thing with this is the gravity of the bakken oil. The same light gasses in the oil that make trains blow up so nice become a huge asset in the case of a spill. The light compounds in the oil will evaporate in the first few days taking away about half the spill with it. What doesnt evaporate will be collected or eventually break down by the sun or eaten by microorganisms. It would suck but spills are not near the death sentence people seem to think they are. I would love to know how much in toxic crap gets into the river from street run off. Can say the muck on the bottom of the drainage ditch in south bismarck is definitely not just silt!!!

That Sioux logo at the beginning of that video is extremely offensive to me. There are no white people on it...

I have no problem with the pipeline. Just think its silly that if they really wanted to actually stop the project they should have maybe started protesting 18 months ago before all the easements and planning was done. Doesnt it go through at least 4 different states? Seems to me that its pretty well a done deal at this point. I do feel an above crossing of the water would have been a more sensible solution that would have made any kind of leaks more apparent before too much damage is done. Wasnt there talk years ago about a bridge being built some where in the strasberg area over to fort yates? Build a bridge there and run the pipeline below the deck across the river that way. Just my 2 cents.

They should bus additional Indians to job sites, not protest lines.
Cut the free cheese until the move off the protest lines

It would seem that protesters would like to shut down HWY 1806 if some of the tweets I seen are accurate....which they (the tweets) might not be.
