You’re behind on the times buddy, they never received free college education. I have buddies that went to NDSU, BSC, Umary, and they paid for it all by scholarships and on their own. So your comment about free education is completely false.

No actually its not. I had a buddy getting PAID to go to UND, simply because he was part Sioux. One or two of our buddies doesn't encompass everybody, but yes there is a lot of free or partially paid education opportunities out there to be taken advantage of by native americans. It's out there, they can take advantage or not. They can better their lives or not. From growing up in the middle of 3 reservations, I would say that most have not chosen to better their lives with opportunities available.

I for one blame the Standing Rock people 100% for the mess they caused. Once again the white man had to clean up their mess. I HATE the fact that My tax dollars support the tribes. You want to be a sovereign nation, pay your own bills.

check your facts, I personally spent a lot of time cleaning this shit up, our department spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and contracted Jensons out of Mobridge to help with the clean up. Protester shit bags were no where to be found, state wasn't around while we were cleaning up either. Add to that, you don't pay for shit for me, I am a standing rock person, not all the same, but standing rock., i work and pay my own way

SR tribe his a "Higher Ed" program. It really works well if you attend Sitting Bull College. My wife used it when she got her 2 year degree. We weren't married yet. Between that and Pell Grants, and scholarships, she actually had extra monies left over. Then when she went back for her 4 year degree, I think she just got her tuition and books paid, no extra left over. But she basically got a 4 year degree free, at Sitting Bull. I'm not sure how much Higher Ed pays if you don't go to Sitting Bull, but I think there are ways to go to college pretty cheap. Now if your parents make money and both have jobs, I'm not sure how it affects it.

Bullsnake:Ok good for you. How much money did the protest cost the state of ND.? How much money did Standing rock reimburse the state? I don't claim to know the exact numbers but it's in the millions of dollars that the Standing Rock people cost us tax payers. I will always hate the idea My tax dollars have to go there!!!

I bet DAPL has a spill model now. It doesn’t take too much for them to get one made.

The pipeline is here to stay and we will most likely not have to worry about a spill in the river. There is no reason to worry that it will majorly affect anyone’s life. The tribe should focus on working with DAPL on response plans and acquiring equipment to stage locally (if not already being done). Even if there is a spill they will be ready to prevent any major impacts.

Did the protests not start after the Standing Rock Sioux filed a lawsuit against the pipeline and then members of the tribe started a social media campaign to gain support?

This was early on in the protest
Standing Rock Sioux Chairman Dave Archambault was arrested Friday afternoon at a protest rally where the Dakota Access Pipeline is headed toward the Missouri River just north of the reservation boundary.

Archambault was booked into the Morton County Jail and released on bond late afternoon. He was charged with disorderly conduct for pushing back on a police line formed when protesters tried to prevent pipeline workers from leaving the site. Tribal councilman Dana Yellow Fat was also arrested Friday as were four others who attempted to block pipeline workers trying to reach the work site early this morning.

Judge orders environmental review of Dakota Access pipeline

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct a full environmental review of the Dakota Access pipeline, nearly three years after it began carrying oil.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg wrote that the easement approval for the pipeline remains “highly controversial” under federal environmental law, and a more extensive review is necessary than the environmental assessment that was done.

The pipeline was the subject of months of protests, sometimes violent, during its construction in late 2016 and early 2017 near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation that straddles the North Dakota-South Dakota border. The Standing Rock tribe continued to press litigation against the pipeline even after it began carrying oil from North Dakota across several states to a shipping point in Illinois in June 2017.

Boasberg ordered both parties to submit briefs on whether the pipeline should continue operating during the period of the new environmental review.

The $3.8 billion, 1,172-mile (1,886 kilometer) underground pipeline crosses beneath the Missouri River, just north of the Standing Rock reservation. The tribe draws its water from the river and fears pollution. Texas-based Energy Transfer insisted the pipeline would be safe.

The Standing Rock Sioux want the pipeline shut down and more study done. The Corps wanted Boasberg to rule in favor of its August 2018 finding that no more environmental study was needed.

What a joke!! ;:;banghead
