I don’t expect to even look this year unless the flood gates open and stay open...and I mean FLOOD gates.

With all the moisture you got out that way it should be easy for you. I even considered taking a 1,000 gallon tank out to water some of my spots. The little bit of moisture that we've had the past few days will help, but we're still a month early compared to prior years and the temps are warming up a little too quick. I'll still go look but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Starter tips for schroom hunters:
couple days of 50 plus degree ground temps
daytime highs of 68-=72 degrees
early spots will be on south slopes (sunlight spots)
1st year burned areas may be good
dying ash, elm, & poplar trees (bark falling off)
look & watch 10-15 feet in front of you as you walk & search
look for small x-mas tree shapes low to the ground, emerging out of dead leaves/grasses

Hope this helps, along with a good anti-tick spray (Permethrin) on clothes & footwear!

I heard putting a pat of jelly on ones head helps in the search also.

I also like to bring a camera (never know what you will see in the spring) and at least a 12 pack of beer in my backpack. This ensures an enjoyable outing even if you don’t find any shrooms.

Soiled the old sheets after trying to pull your mushroom out by the stem all night, eh?
It’s good you don’t sleep walk...you may have walked out to the kitchen and sautéed that little thing in butter.

I've only ever found one, and it was in my yard. So is it legal to sell them?

Anyone bored enough to go out looking yet? Hoping a little rain this week will at least make a few pop up.

Now is the beginning of the 3 week period or so but so dry it’s not worth a look. However...a couple inches of rain this week will get me out there for sure.

It’s so damn dry that I honestly don’t expect even an inch or two of rain to do much for morels this year. I’ve looked in years like this before and didn’t find shit even in my spots that produce consistently. This is just a shitty year so far for growing much of anything...even a fungus.

We go a little storm this morning, just enough that I dare not go out in our exposed ramp by myself. 1/8 inch.

Went out for a little bit over the weekend and only came home with a few ticks. No fungus in sight.
