I went to one a few years ago. A guy put on a snaring seminar. I never realized all the things a person could do to increase chances of a catch, and how successful you could be with snares. For his stake he used a toggle bolt head on cable, and simply pushed it down a small hole he drilled. I didn't think it would hold anything until I tried to pull it out. Not a chance.

Prairie, what you attended was most likely a rendezvous like what will be at Larimore this year. They will have all sorts of different demos like the one you went too. What Goose is refering to is the trappers education course, although not required in ND it is a great class for trappers new and old. Several states do require an education course and the ND class is reciprocal.
