On the Big Muddy.
The Pres. Donald Trump said he going to put a tariff on steel and aluminium. Heard on the news if that happens the cost of aluminium on bikes, motorcycles, siding ect.. will go up substantially, what do you think the cost of aluminium boats will be if it becomes law and will used aluminium boats go up in value also?

I don't think the cost of aluminum is a major factor in the price of boats. Labor, marketing, overhead costs and other inputs are probably far more significant Maybe new boats go up 2 or 3%.

Used boats are already overvalued, especially around here. So I don't see an impact there,

Just my opinion.

I read on the Internet (so it must be true) that the price of a six pack of beer in aluminum cans would go up $.01. Don't think the price of boats will be affected. My $.02!

just like fuel surcharges of the past - they’ll jack a six pack up by a buck anyway and blame the tariff

I doubt that'll increase the value of a used boat. After a short while, we'll see fiberglass boat prices increase and match the aluminum. Maybe Ranger will drop their aluminum line and Lund will focus on their fiberglass line.

you can price shop marine grade the same stuff they use on boats. YOu will totally shocked how low price it is --- the boat manufacturer -- the price on a boat is due to the up and down in market, technology in the manufacturing (machines cost $$$$), profits and the fat CEO. How much money did lund not miss when they were being embezzled 14 million and they didnt even notice it until way late.

So when i walked around the fargo sportshow and seen that warrior -- didnt even have a 350 on it --- 83k ---- i looked and some young bucks were standing by it kickin tires: My mind suddenly drifted into that dream:

83k ---- average older 20 something (who hunts too) uses it i bet 14 weekends in this gotforsakin country --- this year a little less as the ice wont be off till middle or end of may. 14 weekends -- say it lasts 20 years (motor will blow before then) ---- but lets say the guy gets lucky

14 weekends x 20years --- $296 per weekend wait -- add that 27k in interest that kid will be paying another $100 per weekend ---- oops add that he will have a gf / wife in a few years and then a few kids ----- thinks he will use it for skiing -- nope kids play sports - fball -- baseball would even be worse - traveling team. Baseball just plain sucks --- i never had a kid in it -- what are we up to 1k per weekend maybe 2k -- add the insurance ---antoher 4bills ---year. Electronics -- they need to be swapped out every 4 years -- add another 53 dollars a weekend. Where we at now

Anyway back to alum --- if we get a recession which we will the marine industry will bite and the prices will be clearance. I wouldnt want to be Johnny's banker. Retail is tanking.

Ha, you're not wrong. I lust after a boat, and nearly talk myself into the trap of "well, it's the last one I'll ever own, so might as well go big"...

Then consider how I've been purty happy with no boat, these past 20+ years.. No insurance. No payment. No gas.

I catch enough walters in the spring and fall to last me through the "in betweens".

but man, I'd like to have one..

Us Yar Craft owners wouldnt be pissed; we'd just accept the Allison challenge and hope that there was a stiff NW wind @ 25 or so with a starting point of the Casino Marina on Devils....
