Just looking at the unreal decrease I'm thinking alot was out west and mule deer numbers are in the can why. I understand. But it should have been done across the board after the ehd and 23 winter that didn't melt till mid April why are we seeing reductions now when it should have been earlier. My area imo is doing great for numbers yet the killed does and halfed the buck tags.

Given when I say it's great I mean there are deer out there to kill fair numbers of course this does not include private. So if u include private it's essentially unchanged from 3 years back. Same numbers or more. And I think the latter. They do need to do something with the archery hunters in my area they are overwhelming areas and some do make an impact on bucks believe it or not.

The sick thing is alot of those units for whitey buck last year 99 of them went to gratis and now there are only 99 tags

I firmly believe that the gnf is solely based off game warden reports those shit heads drive around all day an night. Checking spots.

The winter of 22-23 took a huge amount of deer off of the landscape and the G&F did little about it for the 2023 season. The over killing of does needs to stop if they want the herd to rebound. I know habitat is getting less and less as well. The gratis tag rules need to change... like total elimination of them! And yes, I could get a gratis tag with the current system but choose not to.

The pheasant numbers out west here in Gods country are also decimated. No reason for any east river fellas to even bother this fall.

I saw so many pheasants on my way to bowman through Dickinson it was rediculous…. They coulda been turkeys I guess I was driving really fast …… jesting aside I’ve seen a shit ton of pheasants this spring. They faired very well over winter. Hard to believe the deer didnt fair jist as well. My gut tells me the drop in tags is a very late reactionary move which shoulda been done 3 years ago…. Albeit still the right move at this time. No does for 2-3 years we would be back where we need to be or close to it

Bad thing is numbers could rebound nicely and a winter could take them back out right away, but know what ya mean.
