i too am in the market for some new glass and didn't want to hijack the other thread... my problem is that i have astigmatism, and taking my glasses off to look through binos is not an option...

anyone have a glasses friendly option in the $500 or so range that works well with glasses???

thanks...

I wear glasses and have the vortex viper 10x50's. Ive had them a little less than a year, but no problems so far. I'm happy with them.

Look for an eye relief that's a minimum of 15MM, 17-20MM is even better.

I think SDMF is right, look for a pair with an eye relief that works for you. And maybe even more important, look for a pair that the eye relief CHANGE between extended cups and shortened cups.

Perhaps the worst pair I have for change in relief are my...umm, all of them. I would love to find a pair that once I go from glasses to no glasses there isn't a big change in focus and/or relief.

The eyecups are there to position your eye properly for the binoc's stated eye relief, get your eye right where the image is going to converge behind the lens. Eye relief is a static/fixed number, you don't change it nor does the binoc itself change eye relief, you change how you hold them to get your eyes at the focal point behind the lens.

I never use eyecups, with or without glasses. With glasses, I put the binocs right against my glasses. Without, I ride the ocular lens essentially on my eyebrows, not out in space.
