Boat cover waterproofing?

My boat sits inside the majority of the time, but was out over the weekend in some rain. The older snap on canvas cover (factory Lund) doesn't seem to be very waterproof anymore. Looking at options, Starbrite seems to be the go to but it can hurt some fabrics. They do have a water based treatment that is said to be safer. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I was just going to post another update to this thread since the cover took a couple hard rains at the campground this weekend and boat stayed nice and dry.
