The red is a hell of a fishery. I went to college in fargo and big walleyes are right in town.

I guess it just depends upon what you are used to.... Personally I had a hard time enjoying the Red when I was used to living in Bismarck. The most fun I had on the red was when it was frozen over and me and my buddies would run SnoMo's on it, 100mph on that curvy/flat river in the winter is a blast.

People talk about red river up in Canada, but if you ever take a look at the trophy room of the grand forks Herald. There has been quite a few 13+ pound walleyes taken out of the red in the U.S. side. Late fall fishing or early ice can produce some big pigs. There is not a fishery in North dakota that can compare to the amount of big fish taken from the mighty red river of the north. Just ask capt. Ahab or Captain Brad, or whopperking and check out the trophy room in the grand forks Herald.

it's a feast or famine deal when it comes to eyeballs. If conditions aren't right it is a total crap shoot. And conditions are right a lot less then than they are wrong. I love fishing it, but it is about as consistent as a bipolar woman from day to day.

Yeah Yeah but when the big gals are there it's like nothing to compare. I guess maybe the rainy river. Oh read the article it states facts about the food source for these fish, but yeah there are no fish in the red river like WAGS lol:;:thumbsup

It can't be any worse than fishing Devils lake in the winter because I can catch eye at night on the red.
