I hate having a dirty windshield and summer means splattered bugs. I've heard dumping a $0.99 bottle of rubbing/isopropyl alcohol to washer fluid reservoir takes care of bugs pretty good. My concern is if it would cause damage to vehicle finish/paint.

Anyone tried it?

Spray Bug-B-Gone on your windshield before you start fueling. Allow it to soak into the bugs while you're fueling. Scrub them off and squeegee dry with the windshield thingy hanging on the pylon by the fuel pump.

IMO: NOTHING does shi'ite: Period. Stop and scrub. Upon reflection; this may be one of the biggest stressors in my life: GD noisy, useless wiper blades...I'd like to kick someone's ass.

I tried a set of "Scrubblades" and they're better than regular blades but they're not magic by any stretch.

Ammonia burns them off. Too bad its like sex panther and stings the nostrils. Alcohol may work and I'd doubt it would hurt your paint. It's a solvent like gas, but much easier on things. How many times have you spilt gas on a side panel while refueling? That doesn't take the paint off.

Drive from Fargo to Bismarck the other night and there must have been 10 cars in the old amoco station, the one off the east exit, people were using their ice scrapers to get the bugs off! Just sucks.

Did some reading on this and sounds like body shops use alcohol to remove every but the finish off cars prior to decal application and what not. Not supposed to harm the finish. Supposed to mix it 10-15% alcohol. Methanol is what is used in the -30 washer fluid so that says something. I may try it in my kids car and see how it works.

I've used windex, which has ammonia in it, and it works great. Non-sudsing ammonia might do the trick.

I care nothing about anything else said after "sex panther". No offense, all else is inanity.

I don't think isopropyl alcohol will hurt clearcoat. 70% IPA is commonly used to clean painted surfaces prior to application of decals to allow the adhesive to stick properly. Clear coat shouldn't be harmed by IPA, but it will be slightly softer for a short period because of the solvent effect, and any wax that's been applied will be gone.

Must officially be Spring now. From zero yesterday, I have at least a dozen flys buzzing around. Where the hell do these guys come from overnight?

I bought a fogger for the lake off of Amazon for $54 last week. You can tell this Zika virus is causing a stir. Some people are selling the same unit I bought for $80.
