After reading the "When did I get so fat" thread I decided to post this.

As some of you know I'm an AKA (above the knee amputee) with a broken foot (the good one).

So since I've been sitting around on my ass taking it easy and waiting for surgery I'm up from 190 to 210. So I'm in need of dropping 15-20 to start.

So who's in with me?

So here's my stats today
6'2'
210

What do you guys think about a once a week check in?

Not where I'd like to be
6'0"
Current = 184
Goal = 175-177

I realize that with other members talking about pushing 300, that seems laughably vain, but it's still my goal... jerks.

I'll join in on this. I'm 6'5" 340 pounds. My goal is to be down under 300 by the time speedo season comes around. :)

I've already lost about 40 pounds in the last 4 months.

Shooting for 185, seems stupid but my clothes just fit better.

My heart doctor told me last week I have to loose weight so I'll join you 2400. At Christmas the kids all came home and the wife cooked up a pile of goodies. Then a storm moved in so the kids all took off. One boy came from Helena, Montana on Friday night and left Saturday afternoon. That left us with a pile of food to eat. An annual physical after the holidays is a bad idea.
Anyway 6' 1" and 220 lbs. I should get down to 190, but I'm shooting for under 200 to start with. I guess I will have to do more than pull my bow trainer.

WOW, I am embarrassed after looking at those stats. I need to drop 40 minimum. Based on your statistics and goals it is more like 80.

I'm a fat bastard myself! Doin some lifestyle changes staring tomorrow! Don't want to start on superbowl sunday! My biggest thing is to quit the beer drinking everyday. I don't eat too bad but more like at the wrong times. My goal is to lose 60 lbs by pheasant opener. Then 30 more after that. Gonna be tough but Jesus this is bad!

Remember the body mass index charts are close but not an exact science either. For me I should be @ 194 on the top end for my height and age. But when i was losing weight fast i was getting the extensive BMI tests done where they take basic measurements height weight heart rate and then hook you up to a machine that measures your cellular fluid content and they plug that info into a program and it tells you what percent muscle mass, fat mass aka cellular fluid and bone density and that is the most accurate way of doing it. I have a bit denser bones than usual and have a small amount more muscle than normal and last BMI showed I was 17% body fat which is excellent and i am @ 202 lbs which according to the BMI charts is overweight.

I haven't left the couch all winter - started at 240 and am now 205. I started the "Ideal Protein" diet (google it) and have been very surprised by the results. It's not fun to begin with - but seems to be doing the trick. Takes some serious discipline initially. Energy levels dip for two weeks, its borderline starvation, your body adapts and it actually becomes quite easy. Once I crack 200 my plan is to do some basic cardio and some core stuff to get into fishing mode. I was also brainwashed into signing up for the may de hey bike race (25 miler) by my elk hunting buddies. Also, I'm 35 and haven't done anything physical since high school sports. So this has been a serious lifestyle adjustment.

I'm in also. I actually started dieting about 3 weeks ago when I stepped on the scale and was my heaviest ever. 6'2" 222 was my starting weight. Started the no carbs diet quit drinking beer every night and eating high protein foods. Have been going to the gym 3-4 times a week and am down to 202 this morning. Goal is about 190-195 but with more muscle.

I'm 240 5'10". Doc said for my build he would like to see me at 210-220 so that is my goal. I've started watching what I eat and walking. I just bought a second hand bowflex today that looks like it has never been used. I know that won't help for loosing weight but trying to keep physical now since I am laid off for the winter

The problem is not your weight. The problem is that you keep going to the doctor. Last time I talked to a doctor he had no complaints about my weight. I think it was 2003 and I had a fever of about 104.
