Finding fish???

How fast can, or do you cruise around and still get an accurate read on your sonar. I've never had a boat that could cruise around and search for fish. It's the weakest part of my game, and would really like to start searching for them more.

I was looking around at about 6 mph last week and the graph was still looking normal. Maybe if I spend more time doing it I will be able to increase the speed and still understand what I’m seeing.

Rowdie what kind of fish finder are you running? There are a lot of good videos out there of how to set up the sensor for accurate pick up of the bottom and fish

Hummingbird helix mega 10. I can mark fish at 20 mph quick blip, you need to be on your game. 12-15 the marks are pretty clear. 5-8 is very relaxed casual marking speeds.

You can see fish at 20+ mph with a flasher. As much as I like my down/side imaging HDS Lowrances, I still believe the best fish finder out there is a Vexilar Fl-18. I can pick out fish in trees/weeds, and it's as reliable as they come.

when the manufacturers come up with a nutritionist that can tell me when the fish i see are eating, i'll be way more interested...

got a feeling i'll b cussing those upside down u's till then - at whatever speed...
