I would use them for fish and veggies. Red meat deserves to go straight on the grates for me.

I bought something like it at the sports show in Minot a couple years ago works good for fish and veggies and it worked alright for BBQ chicken

What are these things made of, and how many chemicals leach into your food under high heat?

I use them only for low/slow small or drippy stuff like sliced peppers, poppers, pineapple, etc.

Some real bad crap comes out of those if you accidentally overheat them. If you do then throw it away.

I prefer frog mats - lets the smoke through to flavor the food like popper

do the posted ones do that or are they a solid sheet?

yep. not meant for 500+. i can see problems arising if somehow you get a flare up and they come in direct contact with flames.
