Looking at getting a gun safe to store all of my prized possessions in. How many of you guys put your Safes in the basement? Looking at getting a bigger Champion safe from Scheels.

I'm looking at getting one as well, but from Walmart instead. Better prices and shipped to my door for free! :)

Check out the Dakota Safe, you assemble, very easy and could put it wherever you want it, when completed they weigh 600 lbs.

Not where I'd like to be
I'm a fan of Liberty safes. I have the Fatboy Jr, and my brother has the Franklin. Very nice finish on both of them.
I have mine in my basement. Other than the possible flood concern, that's probably the best place for it.
It's 700-some pounds empty. It took like 6 guys to get it down there because there was really no good handles on it.
Even though no one is going to make off with it, you'll probably still have to bolt it to the floor. On mine, I didn't bolt it at first, but the door is so heavy that it tipped the whole thing forward when the door was open.

Ya I got a smaller one and got.it from Kimball s in Linton they delivered it and put it in the basement for 60.dollars. they told me I had to bolt it down when I took it off the pallet it came with for.the tipping reason. It is a liberty and they have really good prices there.

I bought one from TSC. Run of the mill canon, quite reasonable. Not much of a fire-rating, but have you ever looked at the high end safes that have gone through a fire? Their contents are nearly always ruined too.

Stay away from the ones that just have electronic entry. Have heard horror stories with those types of safes. Nothing would be worse than not being able to access your firearms because the electronics on your safe failed!

Yeah, you can take the stated gun capacity and divide it by 1.5 and that's about how many you can get in there without scratching everything to hell

I picked up a Scheels one last year, I believe it is a 52 gun, which is really about a 30 gun. I put it in the basement, friend has a electric appliance cart that walked it down the steps and with 4 of us helping it was not a big project at all.

I did not bolt it to the floor, it hasn't tipped on me at all. I have a dehumidifier in the basement, and one of those rods in the safe, in western ND we are not prone to floods, and our air is rather dry anyway.

I like it. Not top of the line, but not the bottom either. Works for me. We have our passports, vehicle titles, bank papers, etc in it also. Plus it keeps the kids out of messing with anything they shouldn't be messing with.

Got this one on bisman, had some rust on the bottom, but was in good shape other than that. Dimensions are 6' H x 3'7" W x 2'2" D exterior and supposedly its rated for 3 hours in a fire. Was a bitch to move, but no 2 guys are going to get it out of my house... Supposedly weighs near 1500lbs, made by Visalia. Seams are very tight, would have a hard time getting a butter knife in there, so should be safe from prying attempts.

I recently purchased a 24 gun safe, and wish I would have gone bigger. I bought it from Nebraska Furniture Mart who delivered and put it in place downstairs for $75, which was not bad, since it weighs around 600 lbs.

I have the fatboy jr as well. really like it. I have it sitting on 4x4 blocks and anchor bolts running threw the blocks into the concrete. 3 guys got it in the house and downstairs but it was sketchy...

I have a 52 gun safe from scheels as well. I like it alot, does everything I need it to. I have around 20 guns in it right now, with the other side of it full of ammo. I could prob fit like 15 more long guns in it, on the second side. I have to get something for the ammo then.
