Thinking about heading out tomorrow and wondering if it is worth the drive? Does anyone have any info on ice thicknesses in this area?

Thanks

Audubon has 8-10 on Nelson Bay, I would think Robinson should be in that same range.

I was up there a week ago and ice varied from open water to 6". Most lakes, even smaller ones had sections of open water. The places I checked the ice depth and drilled holes also varied from 2-6" in short order.

Given the temps and weather the past week I would guess conditions are even worse.

Agreed. I haven't been on ice in that exact are but have been to Coal Lake and Hinsz Lake at varying times of the year. On smaller lakes I've seen less ice than a bigger lake like Audubon (Nelson Bay). I've also seen the ice become much more sketchy on the smaller lakes. If you go I wouldn't expect to fish exactly where you want, especially with all the geese that have remained in the area.

We went from Bismarck to Skytown (Sykeston) this weekend and most of the ponds we could see had ice and open water on them. Really surprised us as i would expect big water to be that way but not the ponds.
