I was asked if I'd be able to take a child in a wheelchair fishing last week. Without even knowing the details I said of course I would!
Wheelchairs and walleyes is a wonderful organization that's goal is putting lifts in at boat ramps across the state for those in Wheelchairs, so they can get into a boat or pontoon. How awesome is that!
So far they have built them at Beulah bay, Devils lake and this grand opening was held at Hazen bay.
I was blessed to have not just one child in a chair but also her younger twin sisters and their wonderful father came along! They had a little walleye tournament, we were out on the water for only 3 hours but it was by far the best 3 hours I've ever had on the water! We even got a tooth pulled in the boat, oh the memories ha ha!
They will be putting lifts in in the Bisman area next and also Lake Tschida in years to come. If you get the chance I highly recommend you volunteer to take these kids out, it's fishing for all the right reasons!
Here are some pics and a little video I put together. Their dad and I are already making plans to get together this week and again next year for a fun day of fishing with these girls, I can't wait!😊🎣🎣
Oh and just to let you know i meant nothing derogatory with my handicapped comment at weigh in. It was in regards to me only being able to use one arm, as I had a complete shoulder replacement 3 weeks ago and needed help with the basket. 😊

This weekend at Hazen Bay was amazing. It took a lot of people coming together to make this happen. Thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors that helped make the day memorable for all involved!

If anyone wants to keep up to date with the projects we have going on, you can follow Wheelchairs and Walleyes on Facebook. Thanks!

Chad, you have some toe tapping music going on at the end of your video.
Very nice.

Get a couple of Welders and Machinist together and build the wheel chair lifts on to trailers and take them to all the lakes. That would be a fun project.

That's great. Looking forward to our Twist of Fate hunt in Sept again. My buddy has killed 2 does with that crossbow you sold him a few years ago, he hasn't had time to hunt in fall the last few years but hoping to change that again this year now that he has a different job.
