Yeah ... I'm prepping for open water.

I am wondering what you guys are using for line counters. I just ordered two Okuma Magda reels. The price was right, and the reviews were great. We'll see ...

I have Okuma, Cabelas brand and Daiwa Sealine. The Daiwa have been the best by far. The Cabelas reels have held up pretty good so far. I only have a couple of seasons on them. I have had my worst experience with the Okuma. That reel lasted less than one summer before issues came up. The line counter would stick, the button wouldn't reset and the button itself is stuck about 1/2 the time. Maybe they have those issues fixed, I look forward to hearing your experience with them after you get some use on them this summer.

I'll keep you updated.

I was looking at the Daiwa Sealine series as well.

Have had a fewl brands. Have some tekota 350LC’s which are the best I have had. Super smooth and the counters actually work all the time
Seems like most of the cheaper brands I have had work pretty good the first year then implode the second and third years

I'm having the same issue with my Okuma. I saw a Daiwa on Amazon for $54.99 this morning so I'm thinking of ordering 2 and seeing if I like them.

I have used Shimano, Cabelas and Scheels. Cabelas and Scheels are Okuma made reels. Cheap but have stood up and met my needs. Shimanos were more than twice as much. Failed and fell apart. Not a fan of Shimano!!! Failed on an Alaska and another on Canada trip. When you spend over $2000 on a trip and the reel fails on the second day. Not happy. Both times brand new reels. Next one will be ABU Garcia or Daiwa,
