Man missing in Heart River West of Mandan

MCSO and other first responders are searching the Heart River west of Mandan for a missing Bismarck man. The man's capsized boat was found caught in an ice jam and Burleigh County's remote-operated vehicle is being utilized to search under the water at this time.

MANDAN, N.D. - A 75-year-old Bismarck man is missing after his boat capsized in the Heart River Monday.
Morton County public information says the man left to check some hunting locations Monday morning. At 5 p.m. his wife called 911.
The river was searched last night with help from the North Dakota Highway patrol dog. A plane from the Morton County Sheriff's office searched by air.
Burleigh and Morton County dive teams, Mandan rural fire and the highway patrol are all on scene.

What was he doing out there beaver hunting? Definitely doesn't look good even if he got out with as cold as it was a person who is soaked wouldn't make it far.

Years back 3 medical students from UND died in the spring out beaver hunting in the Eastern part of the state when their boat went over a small concrete dam out beaver hunting. With the Ice and cold the water is very treacherous this time of the year and extreme caution needs to be taken.

A guy (maybe 2?) died beaver hunting on the Maple River not too many years ago.
