Does anyone have a ranger reata? I am having an issue with the lid on the floor storage compartment feeling soft when stepped on. Its not cracked or rotten. Was wondering if everyone's is the same way before I try to reinforce it somehow.

Which compartment as there are a few in the boat. Is it one of the bow compartments? When it's latched are you able to pull up on it and get any movement? I could see if the latch was not holding the lid down tight on the seal that it may have some give when stepped on.

Floor comparment, between the front seats. The latch is tight, it's the lid itself giving.

Are you a lard ass?
Mine will flex under me too, but not under mrs johnr. She is less than half my weight, so it kinda makes sense.

So it's the big rod storage compartment lid. I can't say that I have ever noticed it because I leave the floor down in the bow. But the few times I have stepped on it I can't say that I noticed it but will check to see if it's the same on mine. Have you looked on the underside to see if there is any deformation on the white liner they put on the under side of the lids?

If you do try to reinforce it the slickes way (in my opinion is to do like the Nitro lids. I will see if I can find a picture.

Just bend one out of aluminum then pop rivet in place.

#firstworldproblems

I enjoy this phrase but also feel it is best limited to circumstances where people are complaining/whining unnecessarily about things they should instead be thankful that they even have the problem. Like "aw crap... my 16oz ribeye is tough".

In this case the guy wasn't ungrateful that he has a nice boat - he was looking for solutions/advice before he dug into repairing or improving a flaw using his own hands - being productive - making the world a better place for heavyweights.

So - in this case Enslow screwed up and misapplied the phrase.

2 demerits for Enslow plz Vollmer. :;:smokin

Mills Fleet has a nice selection of aluminum channel/extrusions of varying gages if you are in Fargo or other Mills store. Some which would nicely "ridgidify" that lid when secured with pop rivets as suggested by Sub.

I think you are both off, and the poster ate to many hamburgers, and is now blaming inferior boat technology.

I sat in a camp chair that busted under the weight of a 250# man, it of course was the chairs fault.

I feel that a more detailed definition of "lard ass" is required...what weight parameters does the category of "lard ass" fall into...and when does one fall into or out of the of fatty, obese or porker categories??? This information would be invaluable and perhaps Ranger can apply warning labels to certain sections of its vessels...

If putting your pants on in the morning makes you sweat and breath heavy... you might be a lard ass

When you buckle your belt and its like a small rubber band around a under inflated balloon....you might be a lard ass

If your wife has to always be on top for fear of suffocation in any other position... you might be a lard ass

If your car sags on the drivers side even after you get out of it... you might be a lard ass

When you have to buy 2 tickets on an airplane because you can not fit in the seat provided... you might be a lard ass

If you step on your boats front storage lids and they sag under the pressure of your lard ass... you might be a lard ass
