A few years back there was discussion on here about Shomes and a few had some good advice. Wondering if they are still going up around the countryside and if there are builders in the area who specialize in them ?

Make sure you include a concrete storm shelter inside - AKA fire proof gun room. The neighbor used 8” concrete walls with concrete lid and steel door.If something would happen to my house thats what I would have built to replace it. Two story with an elevator in it somewhere and a ranch patio out front. LB
There was mention in the last thread about them and a builder from Fargo or Grand forks area. that would be closer to the devils Lake area where the location is. I wish I could find the other topic about them but it might have been the old site where it was being discussed.Sparling Construction in Bismarck advertises that they build them.
I wouldnt even use these guys for a bid. shitty qualitySparling Construction in Bismarck advertises that they build them.
I see that, I'm wondering who the builders/contractors are in that area.seem to be popular around dvl
Not sure if they still do but I know the banks had issues with them when taking out a loan. This might have chanced in the last 10 plus years as they are becoming more common.Insurance agencies, Govt. entities, States, Counties, Townships, and cities all have different definitions, policies, and other regulatory crap that can significantly affect taxes, resale, building sizes, and many other aspects of a shome. Example: Some entities define living space as anything that has a cooking stove in it. Being taxed on living space for a 40X150 shome would not be enjoyable. Be very diligent with your regulation reviews so your intended dream structure doesn't sink your ship. Good Luck!
