Mowing or burning also gets rid of it.....no spray.. But the edges are where Sharptails like to nest.. and there is a reason they call it Buck brush.... Bucks like to bed down in it...
Burn just as it reached full leaf stage in the spring, when it has expended it's energy reserved. I'm not sure, what would that be in your area, about May 20 perhaps?
If the buck brush is so thick it pushed out the grass your likely to be invaded with canada thistle. I have always liked Curtail (spelling?) to wipe out the thistle.
