Forceast is showing temps in mid 30s by next weekend? Wow.

Wildlife should benefit... or will it make crust and worsen things?

Not sure it will be warm enough to really help, but at least it will relieve some stress for a bit.

At a minimum, next week looks like ice fishing heaven. Can't wait.

Benefit in the short term, but bad in the long run. I bet all critters will be out feeding like crazy for a few days once it warms up and the wind dies down. It should help the snowpack settle a little which is good for deer that travel through the deep snow. Mid-upper 20's for a long stretch of about 3 or 4 weeks would be ideal.

I'll believe mid-30's when I see it. With all this snow on the ground that usually zaps a bit of their forcasted temps. We'll see but I doubt a week or so is going to help a whole lot. I'm hoping for a warm February & March and early melt more then anything.

I for one will enjoy it. Any warmth will help the wildlife as they won't have to eat so many groceries to stay warm.
Spring can't come soon enough.

There is already a crust for anyone who had snow before the Christmas storm so that can't hurt much but could help some. They will us less calories to stay warm so that's always good plus it might help burn off some of the ridgelines and open up a bit more food. For us guys who hunt the south west part of the state the big thing will be how much melt they can get down by rapid city. If we can get that are burnt off it allows for future warm ups to push into our area with alot less effort compared to having to cross 500 miles of snow like now.

Honestly I'd take -40 if they could guarantee there wasn't any of this damned wind... This shits getting Old. Fast. It's getting pretty bad when I start to think my wife has the right idea in wanting to move south....
