Seriously, I had never heard of, and probably just plain ignored, yellow chokecherries until I heard of them today.

So I have questions...

How do they differ in taste from the standard dark chokecherries? I have no idea if the three(?) trees I have are ripe, or even productive enough to pick for making something out of them. But I am quite curious as to others' experience with them.

I remember seeing yellow chokecherries once in a while way back when I was a kid. Didn't like the taste of chokecherries so never tried them to see if they tasted different.

huh? never heard of em!

from interweb:

Discovered in Sheridan County, Wyoming many years ago. We theorize that the yellow fruit keeps the birds confused as to when it ripens—which gives you the advantage in harvesting these tasty berries.”
