Winter Vacation

Anniversary coming up. Wife wants to sit on a beach. Only available time is the week between Christmas and New Years. You don't need to tell me how stupid an idea it is to plan a tropical vacation that week. No other options. I don't travel, don't fly. All this will be new to me. Suggestions - specific suggestions - would be appreciated.

Fly into Miami, rent a convertible, drive down to the Keys. The Westin in Key Largo has one of the few sand beaches in the Keys. Key Largo puts you roughly in the middle. Easy drive to Key West or really anywhere.

Not a bad idea. Wife even suggested maybe we just go for a long weekend before Christmas instead of a week after (because it's stateside). More like this please.

We have been going the last few years. It's not so bad for busy. I do like stable weather. This xmas was el nino we took kids to cancun. We had no weather issues. Wind blew 3 out of the 5. Last day was flat calm. Yr before was a w carribean cruise. Rain cold out of no until we made first stop then it was nice. The worst about xmas is that as an overall it's so busy it is a hard time to be gone. Once u leave though u never look back. Cabo would be on the radar.

Texas gulf coast would be nice. Great night life and food in New Orleans. You got options.
