    Slots and Closing spring seasons

How about they just enforce the existing daily and possession limits. It's amazing how many times you see the same boats and same fishermen going out 2-3 times a day when the bite is on at Van Hook or Devils Lake.

Trespass Bill Part 3 - Solution Thread

Solution. Make it easier for landowners to post the land like Montana does. A can of orange spray paint and paint the gate posts. An orange post means no hunting/trespassing without permission. Get rid of the high dollar no trespassing signs and all the requirement for signatures, and new...

    Prayers

I just wanted to share this. I met Brandon a couple of times and was always willing to do what ever he could to help out. Prayers to his family and to his family at Alex Auto and Marine. They are one of the best Lund dealers I have worked with and its because of people like Brandon. God...

Bought the bride a new hunting rifle

My son was about 100 lbs when he first started hunting and he bought himself a Weatherby Vanguard Youth in .243. We used the Hornady Custom Lite with 87 gr. SST bullets and his first two does he shot were one shot kills. Very lite recoil with the Hornady loads.

    $700 rifle

The last one we ran we talked to our local gun shop and we just picked the model and the winner could go in and choose what ever caliber he wanted. That seemed to appeal to quite a few people. We had a Remington 700 SPS Varmint that the winner could pick 22-250, 223, 243, or 308. That was...

    Scheels Rain Gear

I bought a set of motorcycle rain gear a few years ago on closeout. I think the brand is AGV. Works great on the cycle and even better in the boat. It keeps me dry and breaths.

    battery powered electric filet knives

I have the Lithium-ion Rapala and can easily do 15-20 fish at one time. It does start to get hot but it keeps right along cutting. The blade is very stiff and I find dulls easily. I am going to have to try the shark blades mentioned above.

    Ft. Peck

The marine dealer in Glasgow used to carry a nice set of maps and there was a bait shop in either Glasgow or Ft Peck that had one too. Mine are at the cabin at the lake so they don't do me a lot of good now. I have not seen a good electronic map of ft peck.

    Ft. Peck

I fish Peck quite a bit on the dry arm. Usually in August you have hot temps and crystal clear water. Your best bet is early in the morning and late in the evening in low light conditions. I have caught them mid day but I usually find them in deep 25+ feet near even deeper drop offs. Key on...

    Weed wackers???

I bought the top of the line Stihl straight shaft 4 years ago and it cratered on me last summer. The connecting rod bent. For a $300+ tool I was not impressed. It would have cost me over $200 to have it repaired. I bought a Black and Decker 20v rechargable for $49 on sale at Lowes and love...

Allowed to shame people on here?

Had a similar incident when I was running across the lake from Hazen Bay to Douglas. Half way across the lake my water pressure went to zero and alarmed. I shut off the motor and my buddy and I pulled the cowl of the motor and started to investigate. We were in probably 80 foot of water. We...

    Devil's Lake over the limit

I apologize if this has been covered before but I tried to search and came up with nothing. Back in 2014 5 Wisconsin anglers were caught with 100 walleyes over the limit...

Forget the cats here come the wolverines!(not college sports)

Saw one between Beaver Bay and Beulah Bay about 12 years ago. We were fishing and it ran across the road right in front of us right at sun set. My son and I both looked at each other and said "Was that a wolverine?" at the exact same time. I called fish and game and they basically called me a...

    Yeti

Not a Yeti but saw this at Sportmsan's Warehouse in Williston. I couldn't even pick it up empty. But think of what you could do with 500 cans of beer and 19 days.

    Yeti

The kids bought me a Yeti 45 for fathers day and took it to the lake over the 4th. We were able to bring it on the boat, it was a bit big but heavy. We put 20 lbs ice in and 3 days later it was gone, but everything was still cold. A couple tips would be use cold ice (0 degrees) and not the...

What you broke this year ??

I was fishing in some big waves on Ft. Peck over the 4th and turned my minn kota to the right and it got ripped right off the front of the boat. I was able to grab it before it went all the way overboard and my son was able to get the big motor started before we hit the rocks. Turns out the...

    Lund windshield replacement

Check Craigslist. I had the passenger side break out of my '01 Tyee and found a guy in MN that had his driver side taken out by a tree. He bought the full windshield from Taylor Made. I was able to get it from him for a couple hundred vs. over $2000 from Taylor Made.
