    Training pigeons

I guess I could have specified in a little more detail - looking for birds for dog training. The more wild, the better honestly.

    Training pigeons

Anyone know of someone in Bis/Man area that sells pigeons for training? Looking for a few birds over the weekend to work my dog. Don’t have time to trap or catch them myself this time around. Any help is appreciated - DM me if you don’t want to give up your guy, I definitely won’t buy them out...

    So I bought some land...

For your pasture property you might consider a burn to help encourage the growth of plants you want...in the prairies the soil bank often has lots of native plants just waiting for a chance to grow. I would recommend meeting with biologists from both SDGFP and Pheasants Forever to get their...

    Rifle cleaning kit

Anyone have a recommendation for a good kit and any other necessary items? I don’t put a ton of rounds through my rifle and it’s kept in a very temperature controlled environment, but want to be able to take care of this chore on a more regular basis myself.

    EHD

It’s bad...sounds like it’s a variant of EHD that the deer in south central ND have no antibodies too. I think we’re up to 7 south of Bis/Man - things aren’t looking good.

    Training collars

Pointing lab - - - Updated - - - Yes, I understand that the collar is just reinforcement not to teach. He was 10 months before even being introduced to a collar. Also, my goal is to utilize the vibrate and tone functions as the cue to return - not really interested in shocking my dog unless...

    Training collars

Looking at an e-collar for my newer pooch - seeing all these new collars with GPS and wondering if that’s worth the extra money? I don’t really PLAN to have him roam like that, but never know with a young dog. Like all the options that the Garmin Alpha + Tri tronics collar offers, especially...

    Teaching “soft mouth” retrieving

Based on the info I’m training by force fetch won’t be introduced for a while. In addition, my dog is a pointing lab who has already shown that he has the makings to be a true pointer (which I’m hoping to continue to work on) so not sure if the flushing/retrieving trainers would go about things...

    Teaching “soft mouth” retrieving

Have a new yellow lab pup that is pretty darn good retriever. With a dummy he retrieves to hand without any issues. As soon as there is a bird or feathers involved he loses his mind, has the hardest mouth and absolutely annihilates a bird/wing/feathers. Anybody have any good training techniques...

    Anyone Tie Flies?

Most of my pike fishing I use an 8wt. For the big flies, especially articulated flies I wouldn't fish anything less than a 7 wt, the right angler with appropriate setup could probably get away with a 6 wt, but I wouldn't fish any lighter than that. - - - Updated - - - I'm doing a lot of my own...

    Knee injury

First off, quit applying heat, while it might "feel" good, you are theoretically continually restarting the healing process and influencing inflammation. Based on your method of injury I would guess that you likely have some type of soft tissue injury as opposed to a bony injury, thus an x-ray...

    Pointing Labs

Anybody have one they love? Recommend a breeder? Also potentially interested in a lab/gsp mix if anyone knows someone who might be breeding them. Want a pointing dog, really like the temperament of labs. Thoughts?

Do you have any photos of your last litter? Planning to do more? These are German shorthair and lab mix?

    Looking for a new rod

I prefer a medium heavy for casting very light crankbaits as well as casting into wind. I’ve casted a Fenwick HMG in both medium and medium heavy and just prefer the medium heavy. I supposed a few extra inches of rod length might help a medium rod, but not sure. Captain Ahab, would you recommend...

    Looking for a new rod

In search of a 7' medium heavy spinning rod - caveat is that it has to be a two-piece rod. Looking for a great casting rod (length + power) but hoping to find something that is slightly more travel friendly. The rod will be primarily a crank bait casting rod (uninterested in a baitcaster as...

    470" public land bull taken

I'm torn on this bull - someone had to do the "hunting" (the outfitter and guides) and apparently they did a great job, various reports of watching this bull daily/weekly for 1-3 months prior to this bulls due date. The other half of me is kind of disappointed that a bull of this caliber was...

    2020 Sheep In The Books

Fantastic retelling. Lots of hard work to that hunt. 15 yards to a griz of any size is too close, damn. - - - Updated - - - Sounds like things are moving in the right direction with all that - I don't think I'll ever benefit from it, but sounds like a very well thought out method of management
