Aim Weekend Walleye Series names North Dakota Director

Anglers Insight Marketing LLC (AIM™) is pleased to welcome Jesse Buechel to the AIM event staff as the 2016 Tournament Director for the newly formed North Dakota Division of the AIM Weekend Walleye Series (AWWS).

Jesse, who lives in Mandan, ND with his wife Jen and daughters Rachel and Grace is a former and very successful PWT, FLW and AIM pro who grew up trolling the shores of Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin. He works in the marine industry in Bismarck, ND and enjoys spending free time on the waters of the Missouri river.

“We are glad to have Jesse on board with us” says Denny Fox, National Tournament Director of the AWWS. “He has a lot of experience on many different bodies of water in the upper Midwest and that will be beneficial to Aim and the anglers.”

“I’m excited to be involved with AIM” said Buechel, and when asked why he accepted the AIM job he replied, “In 2011 our home along the Missouri River was impacted by a flood. I needed to put my fishing career on hold until our home and community were back to normal and our girls were off to college. Being a tournament director for AIM allows me the opportunity to get back in the game. I believe in the CRR format and think it fits North Dakota perfectly as it allows the best fisherman of the day to win, not the luck of the angler who catches fish in the right order. I'm excited to take on this position with AIM and to be a part of the fishing family again, while still fulfilling my family and work obligations."

Fox continued “With the schedule we have in place, we are expecting a great season in North Dakota. Jesse brings a lifetime of skills with him that will make him a strong and fair leader of the new division.”

Registration will open February 1st 2016 at www.aimfishing.com

How does AIM work when it comes to points for the Championship? Would I need to have the same partner for each event to have a chance at making enough points for the championship? I guess there really isn't a set of rules on their website so I'm just looking for clarification. Thanks and it for sure looks like a good time!

Sorry, the AIM site is currently under construction and it's hard to find information. Everything should be up and easier to find by Feb 1st.

Team Captains will need to enter all 3 Qualifier events to qualify to fish in the State Championship. In 2016, points towards Team of the Year standings can be scored only with a Partner or (1) designated SUB. Captains must fish the State Championship with a partner from the season's Qualifying events.

The "Top 5" in the "Team of the Year" points race and the "Top 5" finishers in the State Championship event will be invited to the 2017 AWWS National Championship tournament.

I like this but the divisional qualifier payout structure I don't. Pretty big gap between first two teams.

Would be nice to see boundaries and stuff before the registration date. Either way I think I will do at least one this year and plan better for a couple next year.

Seems like just another way to commercialize the resource. There are more than enough tournaments in ND, especially on the Missouri River system.
