With sunken eyes, beer breath and a 3 day stink, the squatch makes his final plans for 2018 rifle opener.
Mere days of prep has him ready for another season of disappointment and letdowns. His gun not sighted in, trail cams left unchecked, baitpiles long gone and the NO hunting signs barely legible from the year before, are the least of his concern.
He is burrowing through his boxes of hunting gear for his faded orange vest -a size too small, and his lucky hat. The one he was wearing years ago when he dropped "TANK" a 120" beast he proudly displays to this day on his shop wall.
He has the truck loaded, heck it's been loaded for months. In fact its always loaded for the unexpected. Boxes of the wrong caliber shells, empty busch light cans and chew. Some shitty pair of binocs and a turkey feather dangling from the rearview mirror he purchased at a convenience store out west.
The Squatch is ready alright. He checks the oil one last time and heads inside for a sleepless night, forgetting to turn off the dome light. No, he most likely won't get the monster this weekend. Or the next. But you can be damn sure he will have a story or 2 to tell!
