Warm March weather on the Mississippi River is the catalyst that gets walleye fired up during the spring run. When water temperatures rise several degrees over a couple of days, walleye are sure to be active.
My favorite type of structures to target during spring warm-ups are the abundant wingdams found up and down the Upper Mississippi River. Anchoring upstream of the wing dam and finessing a bait down the face is an exciting way to catch these hard-hitting fish.
