Roger Cormier heads to remote Pakwash Lake in Northwest Ontario to fish with rising guide Michael Showalter, who has built a reputation for putting anglers on truly giant walleyes.

Using modern forward-facing sonar, the pair hunts individual fish across reefs and deep humps — a technique that feels more like spot-and-stalk hunting than traditional fishing. By scanning structure and dropping directly on fish, they quickly start boating massive walleyes, including multiple fish in the 25–26 inch class.
