    I pretty much never wear shorts. Lightweight wicking pants w/4-way stretch. Academy Outdoors Magellan Laguna Madre pants, $30 @ regular price, on sale fairly regular as well are what I wear most often. I have several sets of Simms ultralights, I prefer the Academy pants.

    I use a driveway ice-scraper for the dirt-chunks, vacuum the edges/corners so you can sweep the rest to the center and either shovel the pile into the garbage or shop-vac it.

    I was/am a BIG fan of the Cabelas Guidelite fishing shirts. The Scheels branded shirts without the bug-stuff in them are cool, stretchy, and comfortable as well as comparably priced. Huk and Simms also make nice comparable comfy/stretchy/cool shirts but are more $$.

    Run down Gremlins one thing at a time. It sucks and it mind-numbingly time consuming, but, in the end hopefully saves a person from having to flag down a 'Sconi on the water to save themselves.

    Do you have a trolling battery that's been charged properly? If so, you could drop that in place for a quick check without having to buy a new battery. Many of the battery places will load-test your battery to see if it needs replacement or not. I'm not a batteryologist so I'm not sure if...

    On "slick" I'll take a snow-tire equipped car's low center of gravity. They stay stuck to the road better, are less effected by wind gusts, and are easier to stop. Drifting/deep snow, a pickup or full-size SUV's extra weight and clearance is appreciated.
