Time for an update. Been keeping myself busy since I quit, so much so that I didn't realize how far this thread went or how many others are quitting. I sure have gotten a lot of little projects done since quitting! It's been 34 days since I quit, saved $86, and feel pretty good! I decided after taking a kick-start class at the first district health unit that Chantix would be the easiest route. It's worked really well, I haven't had any of the physical withdrawals just the mental for the most part. My lip quivers when I'm driving or fishing like it's missing something, which is a little weird. When I started taking the second dose of Chantix a day I noticed I was pretty wired and couldn't sleep more than 3-4 hours a night. So I backed off to 1 dose a day and it has worked good. The best part is my health insurance covers 100% of the prescription! The instructor at the class encouraged me to go with the Chantix because the patches/gum would be hard to match the Nicotine intake that I was getting from chewing. The evaluation she did on me determined that the amount that I chewed was equivalent to 1 1/2 to 2 packs of smokes a day. If any of you are like me the only time you don't have a dip in is eating and sleeping. I never realized it was that much! It's still tough when drinkin beer and fishing but everyday gets a little easier. I hope everyone is that's quitting is doing well and encourage others to quit, just for the health benefits, my blood pressure has dropped since quitting and I feel better. I've been chewing a lot of gum, hard candy/lozenges just don't cut it for me. I tend to chew them up to fast. I hope everyone is doing well! I'm putting the money saved each month in a fund for a new trolling motor next spring. That's part of my motivation!
