Rowdie it wasn't supposed to be that way, but families were changing since now Sundays were open for business and woman were being encouraged to work from home with the encouragement of the government. Daycares were not something readily available then and so my mom, who stayed home,watched  over some local children whose parents both worked. I still remember my aunt who felt that it was unfortunate that wage increase begin to decrease because of the woman working force which made it possible for business owners the option of hiring woman who majority made less then men and could force men to make less. That's why you here stories mentioned as to the reason why families could afford to live on a one parent salary back then and why that's not possible now. My aunt worked in the nursing department at und for 30 years and felt it was a woman's job to stay home but with the price of living increase compared to one parent salary increase woman were being forced to work. One of the biggest mistakes causing the outcome we see today with the later generations who were raised by someone else and like rowdie said by our educational system.I have many friends, teachers, that I went to school with that eventually retired possibly sooner then they liked because of the way the government forced to comply with discipline standards that allowed unruly children to continue to act out many timewithout h addressing the behavior.We all know what needs to be done to bring back those teachers who have retired if they want,  by bring back the traditional ways that made this country the best. The idea of a one parent salary will be something that I see will never happen unfortunately and that is one of those examples that begin the decline of the American civilization of the boomer and prior generations were so fortunate to grow up to.</blockquote>
