Way better than the old summit style mount. The locking pin setup keeps the pole from twisting like the old summit one, plus the pole is still collapsible so it doesn't take up too much space in the boat when not using it. We trolled at 3mph with the transducer in the water turned perpendicular & the pole didn't move at all. I mounted the HD ball mount to this ram mount so I can still move the pole any where in the boat or even switch it between boats. I was very impressed.
