Message: <blockquote data-quote="PrairieGhost" data-source="post: 423070" data-attributes="member: 704"><p>I always load one round short and leave them loaded.   I don't subscribe to the full mag and one in the chamber.  A 15 round mag gets filled then one chambered.  A fellow once told me three things will get you killed.  No training, no extra mag on you, and an unchambered round.  With the extra mag you don't need to put full mag tension on your magazines springs.</p><p>I did have to buy new springs for my Kimber 1911 because after two years the slide was working faster than the last two rounds could come up in the magazine.  I also had to buy even heavier mag springs when I went to a 24 lb recoil spring.  Now my eight round mags will only hold seven rounds.</p></blockquote><p></p>
