<blockquote data-quote="64Mustang" data-source="post: 324176" data-attributes="member: 1552">It bugs me when cashiers (normally younger than 30) have trouble counting change, whether it is coins or bills.&nbsp;&nbsp; I have had numerous instances in the past couple of years where the cashier couldn't figure out what the change needed to be made without punching numbers into a calculator on their cell phone.&nbsp; Example is when the bill was $9.09 and I handed them a $10 bill and a dime.&nbsp; They entered $10.01 on the cash register and started to hand me back 92 cents....Bang head here.The icing was put on the cake yesterday so I figured I get it out there when it was fresh in my mind.&nbsp; I stopped yesterday at a local truck stop, got a bottle of pop and a hot dog.&nbsp; Total was $4.16.&nbsp;&nbsp; I had a quite a few bills&nbsp; in my pocket and some change.&nbsp;&nbsp; I handed the younger (20ish) male cashier a dime, a nickel and a penny first, then gave them a $20 bill.&nbsp; He hit $20.16 on the register just as I found the 4th One dollar bill I was looking for in my bills.&nbsp; I told him, 'here is four 1's instead of the $20' as I am holding the four $1s out for him.&nbsp; He's holding my $20.16 in his hand and tells me 'I've already hit the register' as the register pops open.&nbsp; He hands me $16 back (1, 5 and a 10)&nbsp;&nbsp; I hand them back along with the four 1's and ask for a $20 bill.&nbsp;&nbsp; He lays them on the counter (one 10, one 5, and five 1's).&nbsp; He spreads them all out so all 7 bills are showing.&nbsp; He counts them and asked me if I want a $20, he needs another $1 as there is only $19 laying there.&nbsp; &nbsp; I said, count again.&nbsp; He does, comes up with $19.&nbsp;&nbsp; I said 'there is $20 laying there' he counts a 3rd time and comes up with $20.&nbsp;&nbsp; Keep in mind he still has not shut the cash drawer.&nbsp;&nbsp; He takes the 7 bills ($20), closes the cash drawer, then opens it back up again and puts the 7 bills in the drawer and gives me a $20.&nbsp;&nbsp; He said he had to close the draw to make change..... what?&nbsp; I just shook my head.&nbsp; &nbsp; It's pretty sad what is out there in the work force.&nbsp; &nbsp; Glad I made sure my kids know how to count bills and change....</blockquote>
