I let them develop some bird chasing before shooting my training pistol.  Once they start searching for birds they could care less about noise. </p><p></p><p>The first male Brittany I had learned real quick.  He had never heard a gunshot and we took him duck hunting.  We jumped a stock dam and two of us emptied our guns, never even thinking he might be scared of the noise.  When he saw the ducks get up and fall he went bird crazy and retrieved. He could have cared less about the noise.  It doesn't always work that way.</p></blockquote><p></p>
