Im sure our portion of federal taxes are being spent wisely by other departments across the country....(sarcasm)... grants imo are an easy way to spend other peoples money while they spend yours. Everybody is peachy because its “not local” money. Its like sitting at a blackjack table when one hand pays the other and in the end there is less scrutiny on how its spent because its not “local” money. This isnt even the part that troubles me the most. We can argue taxes and policy til we are blue in the face. The part i dont like is in some government office is someone who is trying to justify to their constituents this was a needed purchase. Justifying its use in this particular case fell way short and isnt fooling anyone regardless of which taxing body paid for it. And yes i would consider myself minimslist. Runaway spending without citizen oversight and scrutiny is how we become a government state. Im not saying they shouldnt have taken advantage of the grant system. Im saying the attempted justification of the purchase in this event fell way short in my eyes. Local entities take advantage of grant monies while grant monies take advantage of every US taxpaying citizen.</p></blockquote><p></p>
