Why would parents let a third grader play a game where you pick up a hooker, take her to the country, with very good graphics have sex with her in the passenger seat, then stab her to death, throw her out of the car, urinate on her, pour gasoline on her, set her on fire, and say burn bitch. Many parents have no idea how violent some of these games are. I had no idea.
I finished the book Assassination Generation yesterday. Data was presented from psychiatrists, and the American Pediatrics Association. They talked about what can cause to much aggression in kids and at what age. Surprisingly they recommended no TV for kids under two years old. I think it was New York where they interviewed tens of thousands of parents before their kids went to pre school. Many of the questions were simply intended to put the parents at ease, like what's your child's favorite TV show. Surprisingly pre school has 3.8 times as many kids expelled as K through 12 because they have not learned many social skills and get sent home. So that was the reason for the questionnaire. Years later sort of by accident they were looking over those questions and trying to find correlations and were shocked. You will never guess which cartoon most influenced aggression at a very early age. PowerPuff Girls. Yup I kid you not. Following up they said it only had half the affect if parents watched it with them. I guess it's because this little hero girl socks people in the face etc. The big culprits were Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and Halo. Many of the shooters were considered addicted to Grand Theft Auto.
