There are many programs now that allow young families to get into farming based on education example business degree in farming as well as work ethic of generations of past. Farming isn't just a job its a life long career where one gets a satisfaction knowing that he is doing the best with what God has given him. The motto saving for a rainy day comes into practice of generations passed because you knew that nobody was going to give you a hand out like some pan handler on the street.  My dad owns his business out right but still based on labor market can struggle from week to week if labor doesnt shows up. He couod ask for money to through grants or low income loans but he is old school where he knows that God will give him what he needs.
