    Reloading for first timer

I still use a Lyman turret press for bullet seating for my six most often reloaded cartridges. I just leave those seating dies in place.

    Reloading for first timer

fly2cast pretty much nails the money saving idea. I've been reloading since 1967 and haven't damaged a gun yet. Any reloading manual you read will tell you to examine what you just did to the case after every step of the process. Do this. Of course that makes progressive presses kind of...

Im in the market for a new rifle.....

I don't own a 270 of any flavor so have no experience with one, but I have a Tikka T3 6.5X55 (6.5 Swede) that's very accurate. It's also pleasant to shoot. But buying a new hunting rifle just before the season opens is like buying a new shotgun of a different brand (and stock dimensions) just...

    Trail Cameras

Either Outdoor Life or Field and Stream magazine had a comparison article a few months ago. Check their websites for trail camera comparison. I learned the actual pixel count of the image chips are far below the resolution advertised. It's like "digital zoom" in point and shoot digital...

    JFK files

When the JFK conspiracies die down, Pres. Trump can declassify the Defense Department's files on UFOs, like Bill Clinton promised, but didn't do. After that, there's Bigfoot. Let's get some real transparency!

    RV resort recommendations

Graham's Island State Park has a storage area they rent by the camping season, maybe less.

    new tires

I have Hankook All Terrain tires on my '09 crew dually. It carries a 4000# (loaded weight) truck camper without any problems, at least to Alaska and back last year, and all the way around Lake Superior this year.

    sugar beet season

Overloaded to the point of spilling isn't covered by overweight permits. The lack of CDL permits keeps me away.

Any Recommendations for a Fifth Wheel Back-Up Camera?

Web search and telephone Tadibrothers. I have one of their cameras on my TC. I don't know if they recommend their products for a 30' fiver.

    Yellow jackets~

When we had apple trees in our backyard, we had yellow jackets. they would also raid the hummingbird feeder until the feisty little birds ate enough of the wasps. My solution was traps made from 2L pop bottles. Cut around the bottle near the shoulder, invert the top and stick it in the bottom...

Total Eclipse: Fun Fact, Aug 21

It's much more dangerous if you look at the developing eclipse through binoculars, telescope, or telephoto camera lens. Of course the last one can destroy the camera as well. I've photographed eclipses through welding glass, and it worked.

    Spotting Scope Recommendations

A straight eyepiece is more intuitive to use. But for pickup use, an angled one will reqire less twisting in the truck seat. Remember the scope will swivel in its foot bracket, so the angled eyepiece doesn't have to point up, it can point sideways or anything between. I wanted to use my scope...

    I want this Bullet Puller

My Hornady puller is also convenient. I bought the press-mounted part for $28 via Amazon, but don't recall the price of collets. Those inertia pullers only work well with heavy bullets 180 grains or heavier.

    Black hills trout

Spearfish has notoriously well-educated trout. Many years ago, I watched locals fishing in a city park near a state hatchery and the fishing was much easier there. Certainly not a scenic, though.

    Knife Sharpening

The Worksharp works wonders on the main part of a blade, not quite so well at the tip or on a short pocket knife blade. For that, the Lansky is hard to beat, or learn to use an old fashioned whetstone. The trick to a whetstone is keeping the same angle through the whole process. A steel will...

Old fashioned bore cleaner for less $

Wal-Mart.com sells quarts of Hoppes #9 for less than $12 if your total order is above a certain amount. I needed a micro SD card for a phone so got free delivery of the Hoppes to my house. Old #9 may be slow, but it won't damage your bore, ever.

    Need help! Tiller guys

To stay dry in the back of a boat, a flared bow is important. Aluminum boats don't have flared bows like some did back in the 50's and early 60's. Another big help is a single big live well near the front of the boat. Use the weight of the LW water to trim the boat as weather conditions...

    Not concentric

The Creedmoor became popular, so I suppose the stamping dies that form the brass are getting worn. It's kind of like 22-250 usually being less accurate than the less popular 220 Swift.
