Hope nobody was in the area, a bleve of that size has severe consequences for anything in the area. Parts of the containment vessel can become missiles and shrap metal and the blast wave do internal injuries. Hope all are safe.
i was just coming into minot on 14 and saw the first fireball from a few miles away. Sure seemed like everybody and their brother wanted to come out and watch the mess, never seen so much traffic on 16th st. Fucking assholes, emergency vehicles were having difficulty getting through.
UPDATE: 8:25 pm According to the training captain from the Minot Fire Department-- it was several propane tanks that exploded at the site of the new Trinity Hospital in Minot. The area is under construction.
No buildings were involved.
It is a secluded area so no lives are in danger. They say no one has been hurt. The explosion was felt from miles away according to witnesses.
Wife was watching the news and they reported that OSHA was on site so it wasn't just a little owie . Some pretty good pictures, In the old days we would have had to run in the house and grab the polaroid.
I was afraid of that, Anytime there is an OSHA investigation after an accident it's not good. Tonight was the first I realized there was a new hospital going up down there. I was reading some comments on KX news and someone mention "that's the same building that the wall fell over" ?
Looks like this building has been one rodeo after another, They started out with the same contractor that built the new Sanford Hospital in Fargo and run them off .
Who was the contractor? Fall arrest ppe can be a pain in the ass and guys get mad when we get on them about it but I never want to make that call to some ones family.
